In view of satisfying diverse needs of the poor and downtrodden student community, Mr. Vasantrao Purke established Late. Chindhuji Laxmanrao Purke Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Yavatmal in June, 2009. His real purpose behind establishing the institution was to inculcate his students with his motto Propagation of Education for Knowledge, Achievement and Culture. He would consider the branches of his institution as Culture Centres and expected the teachers to make the students studying in those culture centres as thoroughly cultured ones.

Vasantrao Purke established Indira Gandhi Kala Mahavidyalaya in 2009 for providing higher education to the students residing in this remote and hilly region. Following the principles of honourable Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe, we are trying our level best to make the horizons of our students’ knowledge extend as far as possible. Indira Gandhi Kala Mahavidyalaya has continuously been busied itself in nurturing diverse intellectual and academic quest of our students with co-curricular and extra-curricular food sufficient to them. For better understanding of the students, the college has been trying its level best to provide our students with modern ICT aids such as televisions, computers with net and WIFI, projectors and so on.

We have planned to equip our students with the almost all kinds of facilities: facilities for differently abled persons, play grounds for as much games as possible, spacious infrastructure for effective functioning of teaching, sports events, curricular, extra-curricular and cultural activities. We have taken many initiatives towards women empowerment and security of girl students in the premises. We are also making efforts towards involving our students in experiential and participatory learning by organizing several activities as a platform for their holistic development so as to shoulder civic responsibilities.

Thus, we have decided to equip our students with all of their needs possible for us. As a principal, I appeal our students to complete their tenures of undergraduate degrees by enjoying in all types of experiential and participatory learning which have been availed only for their holistic development.
